Stephen A. Berry currently serves as the Assistant Commissioner for STREAM, where he manages the acquisition, disposition and leasing of all State-owned property. Prior to becoming Assistant Commissioner, Steve served as the Director of Real Estate Portfolio Services.
Prior to joining the State of Tennessee, Mr. Berry served as President of Alliance Realty Advisors where he originated, underwrote and successfully closed $500 million in commercial real estate construction, rehabilitation and condominium conversion loans. He was named the exclusive commercial loan correspondent for Prudential Mortgage Capital Company for the State of Tennessee and was named multiple times as Prudential Elite Producer. Steve also served as executive director responsible for all aspects of two successful condominium conversions totaling 710 units. Before Prudential, Steve served as vice-president of Insignia Financial Group, where he specialized in the financing of owned commercial real estate and served as team leader assigned for the rehabilitation, re-financing, and ultimate sale of designated assets. In this role, Steve originated $150million of portfolio financing and approximately $300 million in commercial real estate loads outside of the Insignia portfolio. At Northern Telecom, Inc., Steve served as manager of real estate overseeing a corporate real estate portfolio throughout the United States and portions of Canada totaling in excess of thirty million square feet. He supported operating divisions through market analysis, budgeting, design development, lease and acquisition negotiation and construction management for commercial real estate. In this position, Steve was named project director for three key, pivotal projects within the company, including the U.S. Corporate Headquarters, Southeast Regional Headquarters and the US Corporate Retreat.
Prior to Northern Telecom, Steve worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an investment analyst responsible for underwriting and structuring joint ventures for commercial office and multi-family investments.
Steve is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a BA in Economics. Steve is also an Eagle Scout.
