Message from the First Lady

As Tennessee’s First Lady, I am learning the many ways I can serve this great state through the duties my office is asked to complete. One of these official duties is to bring in the holidays at our state’s Capitol and the Tennessee Residence in Nashville. Bill and I have heard wonderful stories about past holiday traditions created by families at the Tennessee Residence, and we are excited to begin our own as well.

Each year, the Residence is beautifully decorated inside and out, and we are currently developing plans to continue that tradition. We plan to place several Christmas trees throughout the home and Conservation Hall. Bill and I have both made it a priority to highlight the important role that education plays in the future success of our state, so this year I am hoping to incorporate participation from Tennessee schools into the Residence décor.

Bill and I feel so blessed to be able to live in the Residence and to call it home, but we also know that this is Tennessee’s home. With that understanding, this year we are beginning our own holiday tradition by hosting “Tennessee’s Home for the Holidays,” an Open House event for all Tennesseans to come and visit our state’s residence during the first two weeks in December.

I hope you will be able to join us as we bring in the holiday cheer at Tennessee’s Home!
