A First Responder Medical is defined as any person who might be present during an emergency or illness before
the paramedics arrives on the scene. This objective of this course is to improve the quality of emergency
medical care rendered to victims of accidents and injuries. It is critical for the first responder to be
proficient in providing basic life support and taking other necessary actions to minimize
the patient’s discomfort and to prevent further complications. Course topics include use
of automated external defibrillation (AED), simple immobilization and splinting, airway
management, bag-valve resuscitator and oxygen therapy. Practical exercises and written
examinations are requirements for successfully completing this course. |
