This course provides the necessary entry-level training for fire service personnel to begin a career in fire investigation. The course is designed for firefighters, law enforcement officers or anyone charged with the responsibility by their department to investigate fire and explosions. The course covers every aspect of the investigation, from the initial fire investigation to the courtroom. Course subject areas include fire chemistry, ignition sources, fire spread, cause determination, interviewing, evidence collection, motives and fatal fire scenes. As part of the course, the student investigator will demonstrate the skills
learned in the course by investigation and documenting an actual fire scenario. This course meets selected requirements of NFPA 1033: Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator and recommendations of NFPA 921: Guide for Fire
and Explosion Investigations. |
