I think we have learned this spring how much rain can the ground at TFACA hold! Rain has made it almost impossible to get alot of our normal things completed.  One project we have completed is resealing of the parking areas across campus. They sure look good!  Thanks to teh Facility Maintenance staff and TDOT for getting this project completed!  Training has been very busy this spring.  We have several opportunities for students looking for certification classes including Driver/Operator, Fire Officer, Fire Inspector and Building Inspector classes.

 

 

 

In the next few months, TFACA and the TN Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) will go live with a new Student Management System.  The ACADIS system was purchased to assist both academies in managing student training records, certifications, on-line applications and several other key roles.  When installation is completed and operations begin, TFACA students will be able to register for classes, view their personal training records and certifications, edit or correct data which may be inaccurate and several other key functions.  The system has the ability to manage all training records and programs for each department.  However, many of the advanced functions will not be available in the near future but will be part of a later upgrade.  We know the system will be a great asset to the academies and hope students, training officers and chiefs will find it assists them in their tracking needs as well.  More details to come as we work toward a September 1, 2013 start date.

 

 

Thanks to our Codes Program staff and instructors who are preparing for the 2013 "December in the Smokies" training event. Input for attendees in 2012 has given us some new ideas for class material and subject areas. We will once again be doing a 2 day format.  Look for new training opportunities on the Energy Code in early fall.  These classes are designed to follow up on the classes conducted a couple of years ago when the IECC was first adopted in TN.  More details in the near future!
