The Fire Prevention Division has eight main sections:
- Administrative Services Section

Permits and Licenses
(615) 741-1322 - Issues permits and licenses for various activities. - Bomb and Arson Investigation Section
(615) 741-3030 - Investigates the cause and origin of fires and explosions. - Codes Enforcement Section
(615) 741-7190 - Enforcement of building and fire codes.
Tennessee Modular Building Program
(615) 741-7190 - Enforcement of the Tennessee Modular Building Act. - Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy (931) 294-4111 - Training of Firefighters and Codes Enforcement Personnel.
- Electrical Inspection Section
(615) 741-7170 - Manages Electrical Inspectors and Permit Issue Agents. - Manufactured Housing Section
(615) 741-7192 - Manages plans review and inspections of manufactured homes in Tennessee. - Commission on Fire Fighting
(615) 741-6780 - Certifies fire training and educational programs for firefighters. - Residential Building Code Enforcement Program - (615) 741-7170 Covers areas of the state that do not have building codes enforced by the local government or do not enforce building codes that are current within seven years of the latest edition unless the local government has opted not to have the state do so.
