Volunteer Tennessee Announces the 2012-2013 AmeriCorps Formula Grant Competition

Volunteer Tennessee will accept applications from agencies proposing new AmeriCorps programs for the 2012-2013 program year. Please see the Tennessee 2012 AmeriCorps Funding Timeline.  Non-profit organizations and government agencies in Tennessee are eligible to apply for funds to operate local AmeriCorps programs that meet locally identified needs in the areas of disaster services, economic opportunity, education, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, and veterans and military families.

If you do not currently operate an AmeriCorps program, you must use the application instructions for “New and Re-competing Programs" included in the Tennessee 2012 AmeriCorps State Application Instructions on page 4.  All applicants should carefully read the Tennessee AmeriCorps State 2010 Notice of Funding Opportunity.  Agencies interested in an Education Awards Program (EAP), please pay close attention to the instructions for EAP.  To see the "State of Tennessee Comprehensive Travel Regulations" referenced in the application instructions, please see the: Travel Regs.

Programs applying for AmeriCorps funds to operate exclusively within Tennessee must apply through Volunteer Tennessee (the Commission). The Commission receives funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).

AmeriCorps National Direct Consultation Process

The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act requires that any applicant proposing a multi-state AmeriCorps program (National Direct) consult with the State Service Commissions in the states where they intend to operate an AmeriCorps program. In keeping with the spirit of these requirements under the Act, Volunteer Tennessee views the consultation process as an opportunity to engage in meaningful collaboration and communication and to better leverage limited resources in coordination with National Directs serving in Tennessee.

To start the consultation process, please complete the National Direct Consultation Form and return it to the email address listed on the form. Volunteer Tennessee may request a conference call for clarification and to discuss potential collaboration.
