What is a Junior Ranger?
Do you like fun and adventure? Would you like to explore and discover the amazing secrets of Tennessee State Parks? Do you want to spend time outdoors learning about the world in which you live and help protect special places? If you answered “yes!”, then you are already on your way to becoming the next Tennessee State Parks Junior Ranger!
How Do I Become a Junior Ranger?
There are two ways to become a Junior Ranger. Interested kids ages 6-14 may attend a Junior Ranger Camp, or complete a series of activities found in the Junior Ranger Adventure Guide. Programs are designed with flexibility for participants to choose their own path and set their own pace. As you explore Tennessee State Parks you will learn new skills and discover why Tennessee is such a unique and special place. Upon completion of the program you will take the Junior Ranger pledge, receive your badge, and be sworn in as an official Tennessee State Park Junior Ranger!
Junior Ranger Activity Guide:
The Junior Ranger Adventure Guide is divided into Four Steps. Each step covers different topics and offers a selection of fun, hands-on activites. As you complete each activity, you will be one step closer to becoming a Junior Ranger. Topics in Steps 1 & 2 include: Safety, History, Plants, Wildlife, Astronomy and Water. In Step 3 you will create your own stewardship project. In Step 4 you will take your Adventure Guide to the park ranger or park office to take your pledge, receive your badge and become an official Tennessee State Park Junior Ranger.
