The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is partnering with the Tennessee Stormwater Association, the Ten-nessee Valley Authority and the Tennessee Department of Transportation to offer the next iteration of Green Development grants. This grant program is designed to help local governments fund green infrastructure and low-impact development projects.

Eligible Projects
Projects such as rain gardens, green roofs, pervi-ous concrete applications, trees and tree boxes, as well as outreach and education efforts designed to promote green development. Green infrastructure refers to the use of systems and practices that use or mimic natural processes to infiltrate, re-use stormwater runoff generated at the site, or evapo-transpirate.

The Recreation Educational Trail Program (RTP) is a federal funded, state administered grant program. RTP provides grant funding for land acquisition for trails, trails maintenance and restoration/rehabilitation, trail construction, and trail head support facilities. Clean Tennessee Energy Program provides grants to municipal government, county government, utility districts and other entities created by statute (e.g. airport authority) in Tennessee to purchase, install, and construct energy projects that result in a reduction of emissions and pollutants and fit into one of the following eligible project categories below.

Solid Waste Management provides grants to reimburse counties for the recycling of their waste tires. Before the beginning of the fiscal year, the Grants Administration Section sends to all county mayors/ executives Attachment 1 which consists of a grant offer letter, an ACH form, and the grant contract. The grant amount for each county is based on the tire generation rate according to the most current census or the Department's historical information.

The waste tire cleanup grant is a grant designed to assist local governments in the cleanup of un-permitted waste tire sites. Eligibility for this grant is determined by priority as established by the eight Environmental Field Offices. Each grant cycle, two sites from each field office are invited to compete for funds to assist in the cleanup of these un-permitted waste tire sites. Lien on property is re-quired equal to cleanup costs.

Used oil grants are funded under the Used Oil Collection Act. This Act allows for a two cent ($0.02) fee to be collected against every quart of oil sold. Revenue from this fee provides for the administration of the Act as well as providing technical and financial assis-tance in establishing used oil collection and disposal for do-it-yourselfers.

Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grants provide funding for a grant recipient to capitalize a revolving loan fund and to provide subgrants to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield sites. Through these grants, EPA seeks to strengthen the marketplace and encourage stakeholders to leverage the resources needed to clean up and redevelop brownfields. When loans are repaid, the loan amount is returned into the fund and re-lent to other borrowers, providing an ongoing source of capital within a community.
