Greening Government

By providing technical assistance, financial support, and fostering collaboration, the Facilities Waste Reduction Program, administered by the Office of Environmental Assistance, continually expands the opportunities for employees, visitors, residents, students, and other users of State facilities to recycle and reduce waste. Projects include university campuses, parks, residential facilities, Welcome Centers, and local governments. Additionally program staff assist other agencies with proper disposal of Universal and Hazardous Wastes, toxics reduction, organics diversion, environmentally preferable purchasing, and waste minimization.

The cornerstone of the facilities waste reduction program is the State Employee Recycling Program . The SERP has been recognized seven times as the EPA WasteWise State Partner of the Year in recognition of outstanding waste reduction and recycling efforts.
