Occupational License New Teacher Training

The Occupational License New Teacher Training will be held Jan. 8–12, 2018, in Nashville. New occupationally licensed teachers are required to attend all five days of this training within their first year of teaching. All teachers in attendance should have either a valid teaching license or have submitted an application for licensure. New traditionally licensed CTE teachers who have not yet completed an educator preparation program are also encouraged to attend. During this training, teachers will engage in sessions ranging from planning and instruction to classroom management techniques.

Location and registration information will be released in the coming weeks. If you have questions, please reach out to Andrea.Thorsbakken@tn.gov

Seeking CTE Session Facilitators

The department is currently seeking session facilitators for the Occupational License New Teacher Training scheduled for Jan. 8–12, 2018. Though all CTE educators are encouraged to apply, we are particularly recruiting session facilitators who teach courses in the following career clusters:

Facilitators will also be reimbursed for travel expenses. The session facilitator job description can be found (here). Interested applicants should submit a resume, cover letter, and video sample to Andrea.Thorsbakken@tn.gov by Sept. 15.
