The School Safety Center was created as part of the
State Board of Education’s 1994 School Safety Policy for Tennessee
Schools and later codified by Tennessee's General Assembly
in 1996. The
mission of the Center is to serve schools and local communities
in establishing safe and disciplined learning environments. Center
activities include training and technical assistance, grants
administration, and data collection.
The Center is administered by the Tennessee Department
of Education’s Office of School Safety and Learning Support. Grants
and contracts with a variety of organizations are utilized to deliver
training and technical assistance.
To access current programs, resources, and up coming
training opportunities, click on the "School Safety Topic" of interest
