Comprehensive Monitoring for Programs under No Child Left Behind

The State Department of Education is required to monitor Local Educational Agencies each year. This activity ensures compliance with Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) 80.40.  It also allows Federal Programs consultants the opportunity to provide technical assistance to Local Educational Agencies and to become more familiar with programs in the schools. Monitoring is a joint effort between Local Educational Agencies and the State Department of Education to improve services to students in schools, particularly to those students most in danger of not meeting state standards.
