Energy Star Program

Energy StarThe ENERGY STAR program, which is a new program to the Energy Division, encourages energy efficiency in homes and businesses by the use of ENERGY STAR labeled products and by energy saving practices, saving consumers money on energy costs and at the same time cleaning up our environment. The ENERGY STAR program is a joint effort between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The ENERGY STAR label can be found on products in over 40 categories including appliances, consumer electronics, heating and cooling equipment, lighting, office equipment and home envelope products such as roofing, doors and windows. ENERGY STAR products are typically 10 to 50 percent more efficient than the minimum government standards with some receiving much higher energy ratings. Each product has its own efficiency standard which must be met in order to be classified as an ENERGY STAR product.

The Energy Division, which has a long history of assisting businesses and local governments through energy audits and energy loans, will actively recruit partners to enhance the use of ENERGY STAR products and practices for the benefit of all Tennesseans.

Products and energy saving tips can be found on the ENERGY STAR website at: http://www.energystar.gov
