Energy Camp for Tennessee Teachers 2012

What: The four-day educational sessions provide K-12 teachers with the information and resources needed to teach the science of energy and energy conservation in the classroom and to guide students in becoming leaders in their school and community.

When: Pickwick Landing State Park Inn in Pickwick Dam, June 5-8
           Cove Lake State Park in Caryville, June 12-15

Details: Teams selected to participate in Energy Camp will be provided with complementary lodging and meals and will receive a $500 reimbursable grant to help fund each school's energy education program.

Applications are available here and are due by April 13.

National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project

Visit this website for free, downloadable teacher and student guides about the science of energy, energy resources, energy conservation and efficiency. Click on the educator tab for a drop-down menu to select curriculum search of your choice. To find the Tennessee standards connections, select the "Correlations to State Standards" tab and find Tennessee. Check out NEED's new interactive maps showing energy information that can be used for science, math, or social studies lessons. NEED also has online pre- and post-polls to assess your students' energy knowledge.


Tennessee Science Teachers Association (TSTA)

TSTA is the largest professional organization of science teachers in Tennessee. Visit this site to learn about professional development opportunities for science teachers, including the TSTA annual conference. This year's conference is November 10-12 at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro


Tennessee Environmental Education Association (TEEA)

This is a clearinghouse site for all the environmental education events in Tennessee, and includes a calendar of environmental events that features TEEA along with Tennessee State Parks and other parks and nature centers, Project Learning Tree and more.
