  • Appeal Policy
    Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 8-30-318, preferred service employees who have successfully completed the required probationary period may file an appeal regarding the application of a law, rule, or policy by an agency to the following employment actions: dismissal, demotion, or suspension. Executive service employees are at-will and are not eligible to participate in the appeal process.

Frequency Of Meetings

The Board of Appeals refers to the appeals panel for state employees established by Tenn. Code Ann. § 8-30-103. As of October 1, 2012, the Board of Appeals will replace the Civil Service Commission and shall serve as the hearing tribunal for a preferred employee who is appealing a demotion, suspension, or termination. The Board of Appeals shall serve as the final step in the administrative appeal procedure provided for preferred service employees.
