Protection from Harm - Abuse Registry

The Abuse Registry for the State of Tennessee is maintained by the Tennessee Department of Health. The Abuse Registry includes names of persons involved in abusive, neglectful or exploitative acts towards vulnerable persons. The names on the Abuse Registry are initially submitted for placement from various Departments and Divisions of Tennessee State Government who oversee the protection and welfare of vulnerable persons. The listing below pertains only to the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and is updated quarterly. Because the list of names listed here is not an all inclusive list, providers are required to check applicants through the Tennessee Department of Health Abuse Registry.

Under the Tennessee Code Annotated (T.C.A.) provider agencies must check the abuse registry before hiring a worker or volunteer. If a person is listed on the registry that person can not be hired or permitted to provide care. For a complete review see Title 68, Chapter 11, Section 1006 of the Tennessee Code Annotated (T.C.A. 68-11-1006).

The information contained on this website is provided by the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) solely as a service to those with vested interest in people receiving supports and services through the Department. DIDD cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information. Therefore, this information should not be used in any manner to take action against any person named on this list.

Should anyone recognize a person on the following list that is known to be caring for a person supported by DIDD, please contact Dennis Beard in the Protection from Harm unit at 615-532-6549.
