The Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities Council is pleased to announce expansion of Tennessee's Person Centered Organization initiative to three new sites this year. The Council and the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities invites you and representatives of your organization to participate in an overview presentation on August 3, 2010, at The River Church in Nashville. The overview presentation will be conducted by national consultant Michael Smull, one of the designers of the project. Through the overview you will become familiar with the requirements for participation in the project, the benefits of participation, and the basic structure of how the project is delivered. Michael Smull, as well as representatives from the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and the Council, will be available to answer questions you may have.
Following the overview presentation, organizations will be invited to apply for consideration as one of the three new sites. To be considered, each organization will submit a letter of application no later than August 17, 2010. The letter of application should not exceed 3 pages and must address the following:
Once selected, the new project sites will participate in training activities in September 2010, including one day for kickoff activities, two days of Person Centered Thinking training, one day of coach's orientation and one day of leadership training - all provided locally for your organization. The remaining dates for onsite support throughout the year will be established with each organization.
A unique component of the Person Centered Organization initiative that distinguishes it from other training initiatives is that members of DIDD Central and Regional office staff, as well as ISC staff, who work with your organization, will participate in all training and project activities at your agency. Together participants will learn to use new tools and processes that will improve services and supports to people served by your organization.
We hope you will consider attending the overview presentation and will decide to follow up with an application to be considered as one of the three new sites for the initiative.
