Direct Support Professionals are a critical component of the services the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities provides and funds for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To that end, I have requested all DIDD employees complete Direct Support Professional job shadowing. The purpose of this assignment is to develop an appreciation for the commitment and workload of a Direct Support Professional.
It is very fitting that there is a national Direct Support Professional Appreciation Week as these individuals are dedicated to enriching the lives of those they support. To all Direct Support Professionals, I extend a thanks and appreciation for the excellent work that is accomplished.
