Fire Service and Code Enforcement Academy

Message from the Executive Director

Spring is around the corner, can you believe winter is rapidly drawing to a close? Spring means it is time for the spring training season to begin including a new Recruit class beginning March 5th. The class is full and includes several "Open Enrollment" students.

I am proud to announce the addition of Stephen Snow as Codes Program Director. Stephen is working hard to get our Codes Programs enhanced in quality and the number of deliveries. If you have suggestions for improvements call Stephen at 931-294-4104. Welcome Stephen!

Fire Officer IV is ready! We are preparing for a April 10, 2012 pilot presentation. For those which have completed Fire Officer III and thought it was difficult, get ready! Same delivery format with 2 campus days per month for 4 months. Project assignments and home work will be plentiful.

We continue working to provide a professional development approach to training and education. We have submitted course material to the TN Board of Regents (TBR) for review. We are seeking approval for selected TFACA classes to receive college credit at all Community Colleges within the TBR system with Fire Science programs. We anticipate approval in 2012. More news on this program as it develops.

Need a class and don't see it on the schedule? Contact us, we will provide information on how to get your training needs addressed. We schedule the classes most requested, but will work with you to schedule a class in your area.

I appreciate the support given to our staff and the academy. The staff works to improve the training received through TFACA, and I am confident they will continue to enhance the program.

Thank you!
