Patricia Miller retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in 1995 after 26 years of service. Holding both B.S. and M.S. degrees in mathematics, she worked in a wide range of technical and management positions at the agency, including Senior Strategy Advisory in Transmission and Power Supply Planning, Manager of Business Operations for Customer Group, and Staff Chief of Budget and Administrative Services for TVA’s Office of Power. She also served as Branch Chief of several organizations overseeing the development and implementation of conservation, load management, and solar and renewable resource programs in the residential and commercial and industrial sectors.
Since retirement, she has been heavily involved in senior issues. She serves as Vice-Chair of the Southeast Area Agency on Aging and Disability (Southeast AAAD). She has recently completed a 3-year term as AARP’s Regional Impact Team Leader, coordinating AARP activities within the 10-county region also served by Southeast AAAD. Prior to assuming that position, she served as Project Coordinator for the Choices for Care Campaign in the Chattanooga region, facilitating project plans and serving on the Southeast AAADs’ Choices for Care Task Force. She currently serves as the Health Committee Chairperson for the TVA Retirees Association (TVARA), which has over 10,000 members and represents the interests of over 22,000 retirees or beneficiaries. She served as President of TVARA in 2003 and 2004, Vice-President in 2002, and Chattanooga Chapter President in 2001. While at TVA, she served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, Valley-Wide President of the TVA Engineering Association, and founding President of the Chattanooga Chapter of Federally Employed Women.
