Tennessee filed a lawsuit against Christopher Mountry alleging he had violated UPL statutes and the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act by misrepresenting himself as a lawyer and by charging for and promising to provide services which he was neither qualified nor able to deliver and the payment for which he refused to refund. The State obtained a default judgment by which Mountry was required to provide restitution with interest to consumers and pay civil penalties in the amount of $12,000 to the State.
